Millennium Mobile Pantry

This is a very exciting time for the Millennium Centre and the local community bringing the first ever Mobile Pantry in the country, to West Derby Village. It is a huge team effort, we are working alongside Fans Supporting Foodbanks, Your Local Pantry, Ian Bryne (Labour Member of Parliament for Liverpool West Derby) and St Andrews Church Action on Poverty.

The Food Pantry launched on Friday 30th October and has had such a great response from the community, volunteering their time and celebrating on social media. Locals supported the launch and donated food including Faye from Boom Dance. Our launch was also supported and promoted by Liverpool Echo, you can read the article here.

What is a local pantry?

Pantries work slightly differently to a food bank model, providing customer independence in the food they choose. They are sustainable and help to prevent food waste; food is collected from surplus stock at supermarkets. Members pay a small weekly fee of £3.50, then choose their own items from the stock. To find out more check out Your Local Pantry website.
